Conservation Detection Dogs
Conservation detection dogs improve environmental programs when the targets are cryptic and difficult to locate by current human survey methods.
We are Queensland’s first company training and deploying detection dogs for Bird and Bat Fatality Studies in the renewable energy sector. We have multiple teams which are operational, currently focusing on North and Central Queensland. Our dogs have undergone external trials with their handlers, and we know their efficiency exceeds 80% when out in the field- giving our clients confidence in our work on their sites. We can assist with all stages of these works: design of methodology; carcass surveys; efficiency and persistence trials; and data analysis and reporting. Additionally, we have dogs deployed on the threatened Northern Quoll and can negotiate training for new targets with our clients as required.
We offer training and deployment of highly trained detection dogs for: field surveys; wildlife monitoring; research programs; and eradication projects. We couple our expertise in dog training with over two decades of experience working on the ground in the environmental and conservation sector. This means we can help guide your programs from concept, development of methodology, field deployment and data collection, analysis, reporting, and publication.
Health and safety are our priority, and we will provide a detailed Job Hazard Analysis and have all required public liability and personal indemnity insurances for working on your sites.
